Hi Guys,

I just wanted to let you know in case you haven't heard that The Devlins have booked their first show in a while at Vicar St in Dublin for September 30th.

Peter, Guy, Mark and I are really excited about it and looking forward to playing and we hope it's going to be a very special show. Hopefully we'll have some very special guests joining us on the night, too :)

So would love if you could make it!

'Refuge' in Atlanta GA.

I just got back from a wonderful trip to Atlanta GA where I invited to play a show as part of a pre Grammy night they had organized at The W Hotel downtown. The Devlins hadn't played there for a few years so it was fun to go back and do a gig. Thanks to everyone who came out and I hope I get to go back again very soon. I was hanging with Big Boi from Outkast who seemed like a very nice guy so my street cred has 'skyrocketed' no doubt in the ATL (I'm the one on the left). I also got to visit Cee-Lo's studio the night before as my friend Tim was mixing his record there and in honour of Cee-Lo I did a version of his excellent song 'Fuck You'. I love that one, I actually ended up doing it twice on the night I like it so much.It really works on acoustic guitar ! That man has a superb voice.I also attempted a version of Janelle Monae's Cold War but I'll need a little more practice on that one i think.

I also had the opportunity of shooting some footage for a video we're putting together for 'Refuge'.The W Hotel very kindly let us use their Helipad on the roof of the building (not for the faint hearted) which was a lot of fun. My director friend Chris White very kindly helped out at short notice with the filming so thanks Chris.

I'm heading to Montreal very soon to do some writing with my producer Pierre Marchand which I am looking forward to immensely. Pierre is such a creative person to be around and I have a huge respect for his talent. I'm excited about it. I also love Montreal in the winter, it's a very special city and I have some great friends there who I'm looking forward to spending time with so I'll let you know how it all goes!

I hope this finds you all well and reasonably happy and thank yo as always for your messages and  support.

Take care,

Colin x.

Atlanta Show confirmed for Jan 27th.

A Belated Happy New Year to you all, I hope it's off to a good start...

I've decided to join my good friend Bob Blumer in his January abstention of alcohol which is going very well so far except for the one minor slip up (we're all allowed one).

Anyway,  I've set Jan 27th as my day to enjoy a glass of wine or two which coincidentally coincides with my trip to Atlanta for a solo acoustic gig organized by my journalist/activist friend Kristi Wooten
I'll be getting back to my southern hip hop roots for sure, so if you know any folks down that way please let them know, I'm hoping it will be a good night.

I'll be updating with more news soon.

Take care,

Colin x.

Snowed In.

Hello,

I'm snowed in here deep in the Irish countryside during a turbulent week in the history of our great nation and thought what better time to give a little update on what's going on, as trivial as it might be in the greater scheme of things! Between Bailouts and Budgets it's all been pretty heavy stuff here over the last couple of weeks but i was happy to be around to witness it first hand.

I came home to play at the new IMTV awards which took place last wed night in Dublin, I was nominated for an award and performed two songs ('The Heart Won't Be Denied' and 'Waiting') at it also.It was cool to meet some new musicians and bands that i hadn't heard before and i really enjoyed the night.I also got to spend some time with my family which was great.Hopefully I'll be here again early in the new year for some shows,I'll keep you posted.

When I get back to LA I have a couple of film scores to work on for my friends Sebastian Lopez and Pat Hartonian, both incredibly talented directors who I'm delighted to be working with. It's a new area which I'm really enjoying exploring and I'll be updating progress as I go.It's a whole different discipline to songwriting.Pat's new movie 'Protocol' will be finished soon and the Trailer should be released this week.Sebastian's new short movie 'The Killing Joke' is coming together also, It's gonna be scary!

I want to go play in Brazil! Ive been receiving lots of emails from fans down there recently asking me to come and do some shows and I would love to make it happen. If any one has any ideas let me know!
I want to do lots more touring in 2011 so that would be a nice way to start!

It's been a good couple of months with tv syncs as well with my music being used in One Tree Hill,Private Practice and Grey's Anatomy coming up in a couple of weeks I think, I always enjoy seeing how they use the songs in their 'dramatic' story lines!

Anyway, there is plenty of exciting stuff in the pipeline and I'll be letting you know about that in the near future.Pierre Marchand and I are planning on getting together to do some writing in the new year also, so I'm really looking forward to that as well. Not to mention getting to see all my good friends again in Montreal.

I hope this missive finds you well and thank you as always for all your wonderful support, I love to hear from you so feel free to drop me a line any time...

Take care,

Colin x.

The Meteors etc

Hi,

I'm back in LA after a great trip home to Dublin for the Meteor music Awards. It was nice to see so many familiar friendly faces and catch up.Lights, camera action..

I went to the  Irish Film and TV awards also while i was home to support my friend Brian Byrne
who won best original soundtrack for his score for John Carney's movie Zonad.
Brian and i wrote and recorded the soundtrack for this excellent short recently entitled Vertical
if you want to have a look.

My only regret is that i didn't get to play any shows but hopefully we will remedy that soon,i'm looking at booking some shows in around may/june and hopefully some mainland Europe dates as well.

I'm planning to record some cover versions of some of my favourite songs over the next couple of weeks
so i will let you know how that goes,i'm just doing it for fun to see how they turn out, maybe in will inspire me with my own stuff who knows..Suggestions are welcome of course as there is bound to be a couple  out there that would suit my voice that i don't know about!

Don't forget to check out  the new short film made by Sebastian Lopez in and around Buenos Aires
for 'The Heart Won't Be Denied'.It's on the site or you can check it out here at Sebastian's Vimeo page,
the man is superbly talented.

I'm off to see The Crazies...

Take care,

 Colin. x

2009 was an interesting year and I hope 2010 will be even better with more touring and recording on the cards! Speaking of which, I recently finished writing and recording the soundtrack for Sebastian Lopez's short movie entitled ‘Vertical’. Sebastian who is from Buenos Aires directed the ‘Raise The Dead’ video for me. Check it out HERE
_________
In December I performed at an exclusive show in London as part of a new project set up by Kenny Laurenson called SecretConcerts.com. It was incredibly well organized in a huge loft apartment with excellent visuals and sound. It's a great concept and we're hoping to do more if we can find hosts who'd like their own private concert at home.
Find out more at www.secretconcerts.com
_________
I've been asked to play at the Sundance Film Festival in Utah in Jan as part of a select showcase they do in conjunction with ASCAP. Im hoping to tie it in with some snowboarding which I last did when recording in Montreal.!
_________
Of course a big thanks to Kenny,Graeme and Selina for doing such an amazing job in keeping everything running and moving forward in respect to the website / photos / artwork / music etc. Untied Artists indeed..
_________
Also, I have been nominated in the 'Best Irish Male' category for the Meteor Awards!
Great news so please vote for me here.

AND THAT'S THE WAY IT IS..

Hi Guys,

I hope this finds you all well?

it's going to an exciting couple of months ahead so i wanted to talk a little bit about what's
going down..

1/ Irish Tour!

The Irish tour has just been announced for Nov/Dec which i'm really looking forward to.
It's going to be performed as a three piece with Peter Devlin and Guy Rickarby.
I'm excited about playing the new songs with the guys and reinterpreting some Devlin's songs
which we're currently revisiting. (requests are being taken..)
It'll be totally different from the last series of acoustic shows i did with Fiachna earlier in the year so it's always a fun and challenging to keep things fresh.

Please spread the word if you can about the shows and again, thanks so much all for the kind words about Democracy Of One over the last few months,it means alot and for continuing to spread the word on what i'm doing.

2/ Democracy of One now available on i-tunes worldwide!.. so for all of you people in Hong Kong, Buenos Aires, Israel and Mullingar there's no excuse!

3/ Democracy Of One single to be released!
I'm releasing DO1 as a single to radio to coincide with the Irish tour,so hopefully we'll
be hearing it on the airwaves for those people who listen to the wireless!

4/ And finally: Another couple of dates in LA in October. Largo on Thurs Oct 8th, Special guests confirmed so far are my good friend, genius composer, arranger and orchestrator Brian Byrne. It'll be the last one of the year in LA
and I'm hoping will be the best so far. www.largo-ca.com

And on Sunday 4th I'll be taking part in TRES ! It's a twice-monthly series created and curated by acclaimed songwriter Chris Richards, featuring three songwriters performing together in a laid-back, in-the-round setting // Venue website: http://www.faisdodo.com/

Looking forward to it.
Keep in touch.

Much love,

Colin. x
